Georgia Health Insurance Still May be Too Costly for Some Living in the Peach State
One of the most important things in your life should be your health, and as far as eating healthy, exercising, and not smoking this is one of the things that you can control. Another thing that you can control is whether or not you have health insurance. This is why it is unacceptable that Georgia has one of the highest rates of uninsured adults and children in the country. A program called SCHIP has been in place for members of the peach state in order to provide health care and insurance for the more thousands of children who are uninsured.
In the past few years SCHIP has had its funding cut tremendously because of the state of the economy, which has severely affected the amount of people who are provided assistance with Georgia health insurance. A bill is trying to be passed by the United State government that would provide more than $30 billion dollars in the next 4 years for children who rely on government aid with health insurance. This would be very helpful for people living in the state who don't have the money to purchase expensive health insurance. It is very important that we make sure the children of our country understand the importance of being insured as well as having health insurance, many of these children will go much of their lives without necessary vaccinations if they do not become insured which is very dangerous.
Also, currently members of the peach state are dealing with a new type of system as the governor of Georgia has proposed an increase of more than 1.5% on taxes on revenues from hospitals and insurers in Georgia. This is to help out citizens living in Georgia because the funding collected from the hospitals and insurers will go to funding for programs that help residents with their Georgia health insurance. Although there is some disagreement with the next tax because some people feel that instead of taxing sick people they should be taxing something that should be discouraged such as smoking, but hopefully now after more funding is given to people in the state of Georgia who before may not have been able to afford insurance will now be offered better deals in hopes that they will be able to pull the money together to buy insurance.
It cannot be stressed enough as to how important having health insurance is, it not only saves residents money by decreasing the amount of money they pay per doctors visit, but it also will keep residents more healthy. It has been shown that people with insurance are more than twice as likely to schedule and go to their yearly doctors exams as well as get checkups that are necessary for their health and well being. This can help in nipping sicknesses and diseases in the bud before they get bad.
